Mole (not) in a hole

In our apology for a lawn we have had a multitude of mole hills which I carefully rake flat to allow the grass to grow through. However we have found two dead moles on the surface soem way from the lawn. We’re not killing them so we wonder if it’s old age at the autumn (!) of their lives.

 

Sighting of a Stoat

Intrigued by visiting daughter’s description of a strange but cute mammal on our patio – we were delighted to get a second look.  It was a stoat – distinctive with its black tail tip.  It was too quick for a picture, but courtesy of Google, here is an image.
