Solomon’s seal flourishing

The wood has a superb spread of Solomon’s Seal this year.  Together with over 250 Early Purple Orchids and masses of Wild Garlic some plants must like the climate.  See http://thebridgecottageway.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/food-for-free-wild-garlic.html for a good selection of  wild garlic recipes, especially the pesto which we have made.

I saw some Early Purple Orchids today while walking along a path high up above the Royal Eastbourne Golf Club (at least I think that’s what they were) they had dark spots on the leaves and the flowers were just like the ones in your pictures. Never seen any before but it has inspired me to get out walking and enjoy the lovely countryside around Eastbourne.
